This is the Get Away Today Travel Show podcast. My name is Patrick Wiscombe. I’m the internet Marketing Manager for the Get Away Today website and blog. Coming up in the next five minutes, we’re taking you on an audio tour of Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel located southwest of Disneyland, Downtown Disney, and Disney’s California Adventure. We’ve created the hotel spotlight feature so you know what to expect when you stay at the Paradise Pier Hotel. Jennifer Dunyon, our Corporate Communications VP, joins me in-studio right now to talk about the Paradise Pier hotel. When did you get back?

We just got back about a month ago. One of children’s favorite things to do was the big water slide. They have a beach themed pool area that has a fun, old-fashioned roller coaster water slide that doesn’t splash down in a pool. Kids splash down in a landing area located at the end of the slide. That’s really beneficial for children who don’t know how to swim very well. They also have life guards on duty when the pool is open.
From the moment you check into any of the Disneyland hotels, they’re very magical. When we checked in this time, they gave us balloons for our children. They made the check-in process very simple. They give you your room keys and charge cards. Another benefit of staying at a Disneyland hotel is the ability to charge your expenditures back to your room even if you’re at the park or anywhere within the Disneyland Resort area. If you want to go shopping at the park, they’ll deliver your packages back to your hotel room which is another great benefit.
The Paradise Pier Hotel is a California themed hotel. They’ve recently renovated the hotel. The rooms are adorable. They have cute, beach boardwalk themed rooms. Each room is very spacious and each hotel room has a small refrigerator. They also have a pack and play which can be used as a crib for your child. That’s a nice feature. Sometimes when you check into a hotel, you have to call the front desk and ask them to bring a crib. You don’t have to do that when you stay at the Paradise Pier. All of the hotels at the Disneyland Resort have the pack and play cribs in the closet. You can set it up and you don’t have to wait. The hotel also offers the standard amenities. They have wired and wireless internet access. They have room service and 24 hour valet. They also have complimentary Disney Channel and ESPN in every room. They also have a channel which shows you everything taking place inside the Disneyland Resort area. Your kids will really enjoying watching that channel. It’s also fun for you to watch so you know what’s going on inside the park
They have a multi-lingual staff and coin operated laundry. You also have access to the spa service over at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel. You also have a private entrance to Disney’s California Adventure theme park. When you stay at one of the Disneyland hotels, you can access all of the other Disney hotels. Another nice thing when you stay at Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, you can ride the monorail and you can take advantage of the early entry days. That is so much fun. Right now early entry is being offered four days a week so you’re able to enter the park an hour before the general public.
PW: I was talking to you a little bit earlier today and we were trying to remember when the early entry days were offered. Well, I have the answer. Early entry days are offered, as of this recording, on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday. So, if you’re staying at Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel, the Disneyland Hotel, or Disney’s Paradise Pier, you can enter the park early.
JD: Exactly. That’s a nice benefit. Definitely take advantage of that. They also offer great dining at the Paradise Pier Hotel. They have the Yamabuki restaurant on-site which is fabulous. They feature Japanese cuisine. They have a great kids menu. In fact, all of the restaurants inside Disney’s Paradise Pier feature kid friendly menus. It’s a very family oriented hotel. They also have a character breakfast inside the hotel. It features Lilo and Stitch and their friends. It’s a Hawaiian themed restaurant. It has a really yummy buffet breakfast. It was really delicious. I was surprised how yummy it was. That restaurant is open for lunch and for dinner. It was easy to access and the wait wasn’t bad. You can have a great meal, and then go to the park.
PW: Did you notice the beach themed area west of the check-in desk where kids can sit and watch movies?
JD: Isn’t that darling? They have old-fashioned black and white Mickey Mouse movies playing. They have these cute little beach chairs where they can sit down and watch a movie. That’s a good example of some of the Disney magic at the Paradise Pier.
PW: They also have the gaming area for kids. I was really surprised they had such a large video game area.
JD: They do. They also have a great fitness area and great business center too. It’s a great hotel. One last thing about Disney’s Paradise Pier is the beautiful view of Disney’s California Adventure. At night you can look at all of the beautiful lights on the rides and enjoy the scenic view. Sometimes you can sneak in some of the views of the fireworks taking place inside Disneyland. It’s a great place to look at all of the fun.
