This is one of my favorite hotels I’ve stayed at.  It’s so beautiful.  It’s a one of a kind hotel that captures the majestic beauty of California; yet it’s a lodge type style.  When you walk in, they have beautiful fireplaces, beautiful timbers, and beautiful woodwork.  It’s fabulous.  It’s grand; it’s a Grand Californian experience.  It’s Anaheim’s only four star hotel.  It features a beautiful grand piano when you walk in that’s playing wonderful music.  I love the fireplace because it draws you in.  It also has the nice comfy chairs that are right next to the fireplace.  When you get to your rooms, the decor is again, very rustic, like you’re in a lodge. 

They have wonderful amenities like shampoos and conditioners.  It has all of the extra special touches Disney is famous for.  It has the pack and play cribs in all of the rooms.  They have balconies.  You can see the monorail come through the hotel.  You have a beautiful view of the pool and Disney’s California Adventure park.  They have a wonderful spa that opened a few years ago.  It’s the Mandara Spa.  It’s beautiful.  It offers so many different treatments.  It also has a wonderful fitness facility.  Next to that is the Napa Rose restaurant which offers wonderful California cuisines.  There are so many different foods to order.  They have a wonderful chef and great desserts.  Really, you can’t go wrong there.  Everything you order will be delicious.

Close to that is the Storyteller’s Café that has the character breakfast in the morning.  It features Chip and Dale and their friends.  What a great way to start your morning.  After breakfast, it’s off to the magic of the theme parks.  The cool thing about all of these restaurants is that you can make reservations in advance if you call Disney Dine.  Their phone number is (714) 781-DINE or (714) 781-3463.  You can book your reservation(s) up to 60 days in advance so you know all of your meals are scheduled out and you won’t need to worry about a thing while you’re on vacation.  Don’t forget, you can also purchase your meals in advance through Get Away Today.  Your vacation can be completely paid up-front so you can just go and have a lot of fun. 

There’s also a swimming pool area.  I love the swimming pool.  The Grand Californian has the most comfy lawn chairs I’ve ever sat on.  They’re wonderful.  They have a wading pool for children.  They have a waterslide and they have smaller waterslide.  They have hot tubs.  They have life guards on duty and life vests for children.  It’s a very relaxing pool area.  It has the beautiful pine trees and you can see Disney’s California Adventure theme park in the distance.  It’s a lot of fun to be there.  You may want to utilize the pool during peak park hours so you don’t need to deal with the crowds. 

This hotel is majestic, it’s beautiful, and it makes for a great stay.  When you stay at the Disney’s Grand Californian Hotel and Spa, you’ll be surprised how much time you spend at Disney's Grand Californian theme park because you have your own private entrance.  You’ll enter the park right by the Soarin’ Over California ride.  You can wake up first thing in the morning, go into Soarin’ over California, get a fast pass for it later on in the day, go ride the Grizzly Rapids, and go on all the fun rides inside the park.  You can also go to Bug’s Land with your kids to get them all wet, then you can throw them in the pool.  You’re that close to the park.  You feel like you’re living inside the theme park.  It’s really fun.

PW:  The guests staying at the Grand Californian will obviously use the private entrance to the park, but people staying at the Paradise Pier and the Disneyland Hotel can use the entrance as well.

JD:  They can all utilize the entrance. 

The Grand Californian also has a child activity center call Pinocchio’s workshop, an evening activity center so you can go out to dinner with your spouse.  They also do a lot of special tours at the hotel.  Safora is located just outside the doors of the hotel.  It’s in Downtown Disney.  They’ll have a special make up techniques clinic for the guests staying there.  They can wake up and do that or they can go on a tour of the Disneyland Park.  You meet at the fitness center to do that.  It really makes you feel like you’re staying at a resort.

PW:  Some of these extra add-ons are really unique to the hotels of the Disneyland Resort.
